Wauwinet

The village of Wauwinet on the east shore of Nantucket, near Head of the Harbor, was named for a powerful sachem (Indian Chief) who presided over most of the island's tribes in the 1600's.  Later, in the late 1800's, Wauwinet became a popular resort.
